NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020
Here is a revolutionary change in our education policy after 28 years by the government. ISRO chief K KASTURI RANJAN has presented the new education policy. After a long decade, this major step was taken by the government which is addressing almost all the issues and trying to give a comprehensive picture of the education system.
A positive aspect of education policy
Multiple streaming options
According to this policy, a student can study both of their interesting subjects simultaneously. A student can study political science with physics it means policy allows the student to choose a multidisciplinary subject. it will not bifurcate in humanities, science, & commerce after 10th class.
5+3+3+4 system
The 10+2 system has been changed to a 5+3+3+4 system. Now the education of students will start to the age of 3 , preschool would be from the age of 3 to 6, and for the next 2 years class 1 and class 2.
The preparatory stage will be there for playing and activity-based class learning. Class 6 to 8 will be called the middle stage, which will focus on experiential learning of science, mathematics, arts, social science, & humanities. Secondary classes will of class 9 to12 which will focus upon multidisciplinary studies, flexibilities.
Vocational training
From class 6, students have to do internships in vocational training jobs. Students would be imparted experience in such a job of plumbing, carpeting, gardening, driving, supermarket jobs, and all other extra side vocational training of engineering humanities and all others.
Coding would be taught from class 6 onward
Students of class 6 and onwards will be taught coding in schools, as a part of 21st-century skills.
Importance of board examination would be reduced, the exam can be conducted twice a year
To reduce the importance and stress of board exams, the exam will be conducted in two parts: objective and descriptive. The exam can be conducted twice a year.
PARAKH ( performance, assessment, review, and analysis of knowledge, for holistic development )
A new national assessment center will be set up as a standard-setting body ). Until now, the teacher assesses how the student has performed in the entire year, now assessment will be done by not only the teacher, but the student and their classmates can also evaluate. Self-appraisal will help in critical decisions.
Variable models for board exams - annual, semester, modular exams.
Boards may over time also develop further viable models of Board Exam, such as - annual/ semester/ modular board exam; offering all subjects.
Multiple entry-exit programs
It means if you started a degree say B.Tech degree and after one year of completion, you realize it not suits you and then you drop out midway. All the subjects that you have studied, you can get the credits and get it to transfer to another degree. In fact, the policy is that if you have taken a 4-year degree & if you drop out after one year, then you will get a certificate. if you drop out after the 2nd year, you will get a diploma. After 3rd year, you will get a bachelors’ degree and after final year a bachelors’ research degree.
MA / MSC degree would only for 1 year.
MA / MSC courses will last for one year for those who have a 4-year graduate degree and 2 years for those who have a 3-year graduate degree.
CCEE ( COMMON COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM)
For admission in MA, you have to give a common college entrance exam test. Earlier for admission in the MA program of your nearby college, you simply take the admission without any entrance but according to the new policy, you must have to clear the common entrance test & according to your ranking can get quality colleges.

Now students are going to jump straight to the Ph.D. program.
Doors open for foreign universities
Top 100 foreign institutes have been given permission to set up their campuses within India.
Focusing on vocational education, the government has said that in next years, it will be integrated into all the schools and higher educational institutions in a phased manner.it is being aimed that by 2025, 50% of the learners in schools and higher education institutions will have had exposure to vocational education.
New standards and training on online tools for teacher
Common national professional standards will be set for all the teachers by 2022.
A four years integrated BA degree would be the minimum qualification required to become a teacher by 2030.
