Felling of unease, nervousness, loneliness, homesickness, sweating trembling, inability to maintain focus, insomnia, sense of impending danger, restlessness statics of, fatigue, staying asleep, panic attacks, increased heart rate, and experiencing the gastrointestinal problem are common signs while we enter in the college campus. Most of the students don’t even acknowledge that they are facing major mental problems called anxiety. Recent data on college student mental health shows an increasing rate of anxiety depression in students during college, sometimes it becomes a life long problem. Statics of 2019 says -


Anxiety is the topmost mental concerns among college students (41.6%), while ( 35.8%) is followed by depression & (35.8%) are facing a relationship problem.


21% are facing severe mental health concerns & 40% having mild concerns.


60.5% are experiencing loneliness, one of the most common symptoms of anxiety.


2 to 8% are diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)


50% of students admit to having suicidal thoughts.


Statics of 2019 beckons to change our thought process that these signs are common, it’s’ okay. No, it’s not okay to face mental concerns. The graph of anxiety sharpens during first semester and remains elevated throughout the college semester or sometime your lifelong companion.


Types of anxiety in college

Anticipatory anxiety is the most pronounced and generalized anxiety disorder which one can get very easily anywhere. Simply if you are waiting for something as simple as a phone call or someone on your special day birthday or marriage day you can get anticipatory anxiety. How to cop up the situation..??? As simple as getting in, coping with the situation is also simple. Shift your mindset to escape over the situation and enjoy the moment.


Separation anxiety occurs when you first time leaving the home or your dear ones place. On college campus it occurs during the first week of college. For coping with the situation you can frequently visit your home, call people. once you get connected to college students, make new friends the gap of emotion fills and enjoy the moment.


Social anxiety creates when you are a shy nature person. People faces challenges in participating in college events programs, presentation initiating friendship, romantic relationship. Try to approach someone who is of your similar nature means to say shy nature. Try to communicate, try to introduce yourself.


As other anxiety types like test anxiety, anxiety over peer pressure occurs according to the situation. To deal with the situation we must take initiatives. Approach to communicate, give time to yourself, practice self-care. Anxiety is a mental imbalance kind of illness, don't take it in common it is not okay to face the signs. Be kind to yourself.
